Hello. My name is Yuka. I went to art school and discovered I really enjoy making things look photorealistic, but am not so into taking photographs. You can find me at the library as a librarian, on the computer kerning/leading or creating awesome masks, behind a sewing machine, or quietly annoyed if you're wasting resources or not recycling. I'm vegetarian, a thriftstore/estatesale master, an excellent baker, a list-maker, and very good at noticing typos and reading maps. Interests: adventures, dog psychology, non-fiction books, tech/geekery, raptors, kitsche, grammar, and courtesy.

"play the robot" is a term I cooked up for my 2000 AIM screenname after much influence in a sociology class. I was perturbed by our American mainstream, popular culture unquestionably following the same trends and ignoring democracy, playing the fool. Hence, the term could be read as that-- or as a silly, kiddy robot dance request?     Instead of being a bummer, let's just be nice to each other :) ...start by not stealing any of my images without asking.
